Jhumelo is an Indian streetwear label built one culture at a time. We find the art, festivals and stories of one place in India and turn them into something you wear every day.
What we believe
Indian culture is not a costume. It belongs in everyday style.
Most streetwear in India borrows its look from somewhere else: the slogans, the graphics, the references. Meanwhile, the art on our own doorways, the flowers on our own hills and the masks of our own festivals stay locked inside souvenir shops, museum walls and once-a-year occasions.
Jhumelo exists to bring that back into fashion. Not as fancy dress for a festival, and not as a print slapped on for effect, but as clothing people choose for how it looks and keep wearing for what it means. The culture is the reason. The design is what makes you wear it.
The name
झुमेलो
Jhumelo is a folk song and dance of the Garhwal hills. Villagers link arms, sing together and move in a slow circle, often at fairs and festivals.
Nobody performs Jhumelo alone. That is the spirit of the brand: a shared story, passed from the pahad to the city, from one person to the next, every time it is worn.
How we work
Each drop focuses on one region of India instead of skimming across all of it. We start with the hills of Uttarakhand, where we come from.
Every design begins with a real tradition: a ritual art form, a festival, a flower, a landscape. We learn its story before we draw a single line.
Old art, new language. Bold lines, a tight colour palette and streetwear proportions, so the culture feels current, not costume.
Every design comes with its meaning. When someone asks what you are wearing, you will have an answer.
What we stand for
No generic “ethnic” patterns. Every design is tied to a real place, a real festival or a real craft, and we always say which one.
A story alone is not enough. If a design would not look good without its meaning, it does not make the drop.
We are from the pahad, and we work close to the places our designs come from, so the stories stay true.
Small runs, no endless restocks, and pieces made to be worn for years, not for one season.
Our goal
The land of the gods, and our home. Its art, its flowers, its mountains and its festivals come first.
Each drop moves to a new region, its crafts and its stories, until the whole country is part of the wardrobe.
A generation that wears its roots with the same confidence it wears any global brand.
हमारी सोच
हमारी संस्कृति सिर्फ़ त्योहारों और म्यूज़ियम के लिए नहीं है। ऐपण की लकीरें, बुरांश के फूल, हिलजात्रा के मुखौटे, ये सब हर दिन के स्टाइल का हिस्सा बन सकते हैं।
झुमेलो हर ड्रॉप में भारत की एक जगह चुनता है, उसकी कला और कहानियाँ समझता है, और उन्हें आज के स्ट्रीटवियर की भाषा में ढालता है। शुरुआत हमारे अपने घर, देवभूमि उत्तराखंड से।
अपनी जड़ों पर गर्व करना पुराना फ़ैशन नहीं है। यही असली स्ट्रीटवियर है।
